Richard Earl Sutton

Richard was born in Fresno, CA on February 28, 1959 and passed away on September 9, 2016. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeanenne Nadine Le Grande and his sister Jeanie Sutton.

He is survived by Saprina Abraham Sutton his companion of 19 years, his step daughter Destinee, two step sons Jason, Justin and 7 grandchildren; his father Donald Sutton and step mother Aleen, sisters Donna Steed and husband Randy, Jody Guerrero and husband Victor , brother Rodney Sutton and wife Norma and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was a lifetime resident of Fresno and went to Fresno High School. Richard had a passion for horses and landed a job as an Exercise Rider at El Pico Ranch in Madera. Unfortunately, he had a Philly (horse) fall on him and broke his back. That ended his career as an Exercise Rider but opened up a new career in Architecture. Richard attended Westland College and graduated with a degree in Architectural Drafting in December 1982. After much hard work and schooling he started his own business, Richard E Sutton Consulting. He worked with many Fresno Architects and Contractors and built a well known reputation as an expediter for getting plans submitted .

There were so many things that Richard loved. He had a passion for horses, fishing at Huntington Lake, he loved to entertain, barbecues, and his favorite holiday was Christmas; he loved the ocean, traveling...Maui , his favorite place to go. Richard was probably the most giving person you would have ever known. He would help anyone.

Richard had been having medical problems since 2012 but could not be diagnosed. On July 26, 2015, Richard was hospitalized again at Clovis Community Hospital. He was seen by Dr. Singh a Neurologist at the hospital. After going through all Richards past records at the hospital Dr. Singh put together a diagnosis we never saw coming. ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease. After many trips to Stanford it was confirmed.

Richard fought his hardest battle with ALS but he never once said "Why me". He will be missed by all of his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday September 19, 2016 at 11:00am in the GL Johnson Chapel of People's Church, Fresno, CA.
